Training phases: a review
The HHFA data collection training workshop consists of a series of different phases that are defined by the expected learning outcomes of the phase.
Phase 1: General HHFA review
By the end of this phase, participants should be able to briefly describe the HHFA objectives, content, methods, and processes.
The breadth of the sessions’ content is very broad, and the level of detail is very low.
Phase 2: General data collection tool and skills overview
By the end of this phase, participants should be able to explain the content and structure of the questionnaire and the recommended interviewing practices.
Phase 3 and 4: Specific review of questionnaire sections
By the end of these phases, participants should be able to explain how to collect information for all the categories of information.
The breadth of the sessions’ content is narrow, as the training transitions from a general overview of the questionnaire to the detailed review of every section.
The level of detail is very high, as participants need to get familiar with the questions in each section of the questionnaire.
Phase 5: General overview of data collection procedures
By the end of this phase, participants should be able to discuss the entire data collection process and responsibilities.
The breadth of the sessions’ content is broad, and the level of detail is medium.
Phase 6: Field practice preparation and test
By the end of this phase, participants should be able to demonstrate the knowledge acquired during the training.
The breadth of the sessions’ content is very broad, and the level of detail is low.
Phase 7: Field practice
By the end of this phase, participants should be able to apply the knowledge and interviewer skills acquired and test the data collection processes and questionnaire.
The breadth of the sessions’ content is medium, and the level of detail is also medium.
Phase 8: Troubleshooting
By the end of this phase, participants should be able to suggest revisions to the tool and data collection processes.
The breadth of the sessions’ content is broad, and the level of detail is high.
Phase 9: Field work finalization
Phase 9 includes some additional time as needed for the area supervisors and the survey coordination team to finalize fieldwork preparations.
