Jennifer Carter

FoSSA Course Co-Director and lecturer for Module A1

Jennifer is an Associate Course Director for the MSc Global Health Science & Epidemiology in Oxford Population Health. She also directs short courses in epidemiology and statistics. Her research examines the measurement and influence of adiposity, dietary intake and other vascular risk factors with the risk of cardiovascular disease in large, prospective studies around the globe.

Tracy Bye

FoSSA Course Co-Director and lecturer for Modules B2 and B3

Tracy is a Lecturer in Animal Science at the Royal Agricultural University. Previously she was the Deputy Director of Education in the Department of Oncology at the University of Oxford. She has several years experience of teaching research methods and statistics to students in the life sciences.

Neil Wright

Neil Wright is a medical statistician working on the China Kadoorie Biobank in Oxford Population Health. His main research interest is the effective application of established and novel methods in epidemiology and related research.

Steph Ross

Lecturer for Module C1

Stephanie Ross is a Senior Teaching and Research Fellow in Oxford Population Health. Stephanie’s current research focuses on major risk factors for adult mortality in low- and middle- income countries.

Sofia Massa

Lecturer for Module C1

Sofia is the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit Lead Statistician at NDORMS. She is interested in developing sound and rigorous statistical models for estimating parameters of interest from clinical trials data and health research data.

Yasmina Al Ghadban

Lecturer for Module A2

Yasmina is a first year DPhil student from Beirut, Lebanon, under the supervision of Dr Jane Hirst. Her research interests broadly involve using health data and predictive modeling for disease prevention and early detection, particularly in diseases that impact women’s, reproductive, sexual and maternal health. For her DPhil, she is hoping to combine her engineering background with her passion for improving reproductive health to develop predictive models of adverse outcomes of gestational diabetes using electronic health records.

Mohammad Umer Sharif Shohan

Lecturer for Module A1

Mohammad is a 2nd year DPhil student at Nuffield Department of Medicine. He is currently working on developing a machine learning model to understand cellular interaction from single cell transcriptomics data. His research interest lies on machine learning, immunology, big data, mathematical modeling etc. In his free time, he enjoys reading, traveling and exploring new places and ideas

Callum O’Neill

Lecturer for Module A1

Callum is a first year DPhil student on the Genomic Medicine and Statistics program. He has a particular focus on large datasets and an interest in researching the genetic basis of both monogenic and polygenic disease.

Tuan-Anh Tran

Lecturer for Module A2

Tuan-Anh is a DPhil student at the Nuffield Department of Medicine. His research focuses on applying machine learning approaches to solve problems in biomedical and chemical science, especially in antimicrobial resistance.
