Let’s review what we covered in this module.
Basics of questionnaire adaptation
- During the questionnaire adaptation process, every question in the questionnaire must be reviewed.
- There are 3 types of HHFA questionnaire adaptations: Deleting, adding or modifying a question.
- All adaptations must be made (and maintained) in Track Changes.
- Do not change the question numbers or the order of the questions.
- Adaptations to the questionnaire require corresponding adaptations to other HHFA tools.
Deleting and adding questions
- To delete a question, delete the entire row in Track Changes.
- Do not re-use the number of the deleted question or re-number the subsequent questions.
- To add a question, insert a new row in Track Changes.
- For new questions, always use the country-specific numbering system with the ISO 2 code.
- For new response options, use a list when only one response is possible.
- Use a table when multiple responses are possible.
- After deleting or adding a question, check the skip patterns.
Modifying HHFA questions
- Modifying an HHFA question means making changes to the text of the question in ways that will not change the meaning of the question or its response options.
- If changes to the question text will change the meaning of the question or its response options, the question should be deleted and replaced with a new country-specific question.
- Some HHFA questions contain the instruction “COUNTRY ADAPT”.
- All HHFA questions should be reviewed by the country.
