Bio

Samuel Pierre obtained his medical degree at the School of Medicine of the State University of Haiti and further honed his expertise by obtaining a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology and health service research from Cornell University. He serves as a Clinical Research Site Coordinator at GHESKIO Centers in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he supervises international network clinical trials and studies primarily focusing on tuberculosis and HIV. He has expanded his research interests to explore the intersections between infectious and non-communicable diseases through his NIH-funded R21 study, which investigates the cardiometabolic consequences and pathways of weight gain associated with dolutegravir-based regimens in Haiti. His goals are to implement robust prevention and treatment strategies aimed at enhancing the survival and quality of life of people living with HIV in the region, and to improve public health outcomes.
